I’m riding in The Big Spin because, for me, this one lands close to home.

I’ve taken my own child to the Children’s Hospital. I’ve sat in those rooms, felt that worry, and seen how much the smallest moments of comfort can matter when a family is going through something frightening.

I’ve only seen a glimpse of the work Ronald McDonald House Charities does, but it was enough to understand the difference it makes. A meal. A place to stay. A moment of normality. A little happiness for a child when everything around them feels uncertain.

FLOK exists to help people fuel their fitness-to run further, move more and chase something that matters to them. But sometimes, movement can mean more than our own finish lines.

There’s no greater FLOK than family.

And when a child is sick or injured, Ronald McDonald House Charities helps keep that FLOK together - close to the hospital, close to one another, and supported through some of the hardest days they may ever face.

So, for 12 hours, we’ll ride.

We’ll use our legs, our energy and our community to help families who need theirs around them most.

If our FLOK can help their FLOK, even in some small way, then every kilometre will be worth it.
